I found something strange in our PO box today.

No, not strange in the alarming sense, no bloodstains or weird clues this time
(Gilbert looked almost disappointed about that). Just something... unexpected.

An envelope.
No postage stamp, no return address.
I turned it over twice before opening it, half-expecting to find a sign I missed about its origin.
But nope, nothing.
Someone must have shoved it physically into our box.

Inside was a greeting card that was definitely old. The kind you donāt really see anymore, a naive drawing on thick paper. Very 1970s for sure. On the front, a childlike angel with clear eyes, adorned by purple flowers.
How cute!
On the back there was a short message:
āNot all angels are in heavenĀ
Some are right here on earthĀ
Enjoy your time with loved ones.ā

No signature though, nothing else.
I didnāt know what to make of it and I still donāt.
Gilbert suggested it might be a listener or reader, āSomeone who knows weāre digging into a seventies case and thought this would be thematic,ā he said.
And maybe heās right.
Still⦠there was something about it. The care it took to find and choose an old card.
The effort to get it into our PO box.Ā
I find that oddly comforting, the fact that someone would go through such lengths.
Not everything mysterious has to be ominous.
Sometimes itās just someone reaching out, reminding you that warmth still exists even when the days are short and the cold creeps into your house.
So, whoever you are: thank you.
The card is sitting on my desk now reminding me that YOU are listening and caring.
And to all of you reading this, take this message with you:
Stay close to the light.
Stay near the fire and hold onto the people who make the darkness feel less heavy.
Perhaps not all angels are where we expect them to be.
